I think it was a children's movie I heard the quote, "Fear and Faith cannot exist in the body at the same time".
That really stuck with me because it is so true...if you have fear you are not having faith. It has to be one or the other. Kind of like the saying..."If you pray don't worry, but if you worry don't pray".
We have been at a D-Now this weekend at Lake Forest Ranch, and it has been awesome. The services have been great, the fellowship, and ministering and meeting new friends have been amazing!
So, yesterday our activity was to do the ropes course. Well, that was a breeze, up until the "high" ropes course came into play. :)
It was time to do the zip line and the rock wall. Well, I got up the rock wall only to a few seconds later climb down because I was such a chicken.
Then seeing everybody(even a 8 year old) do the zip line, I just had to try.
Well, did I mention that getting to the zip line you had to climb up a 50 foot tree?!? Wow! It was so intense! I almost gave up half way, because it felt like I was going to fall. The only thing holding you were these little hooks in the tree, but I kept pushing on, because I was not going to let my fear win.
Once I got to the top I was freaking out, and about to have an anxiety attack. :)
The guy strapping me up said, "Put your toes on the end of the board". (okay like literally hanging over the side!) I was like "are you sure??". It was terrifying, but then once I slid off the board, away I went flying into the air.
All that hard work, intense climbing, and being scared to death, paid off once I was gliding down the zip line.
It reminded me of our Christian walk sometimes. It is hard and can be terrifying, and we may even go through some of the scariest times of our lives, but once we reach the top of that crisis, it was all worth it, because we are now stronger than before, and feel the amazing blessings from it.
Sometimes our fear can shut us down instead of our faith stepping in and overcoming the obstacles. Don't let your faith become weak, let your faith keep you from falling, and in the moment when you have overcome and are gliding through the air remember, in that hard climb, and the scarceness of it all your faith will get through anything.
Have FAITH not FEAR....
